The RMS Sport software enhances Scalextric racing by providing a fully integrated racing system for PC, allowing you to:

- Choose from a list of some 37 pre-loaded circuits to race on or design your own using the circuit facility. Select drivers from the Pit Lane and add new ones by scanning and loading your ow image or team.

- View images of the latest Scalextric cars in the Pit Lane Garage as well as view the latest. Scalextric circuits, like Monaco or Spa, from an on-board virtual camera, which follows a 3-D movie of the track.

- Add cars that you own to your pit garage and download new releases from the Scalextric website (www.scalextric.com).

- Design a circuit in the graphical circuit editor. The dimensions of your room layout can be mapped out here to ensure that the circuit you build, fits your space as well as you imagined it would. Circuit information can be printed, saved or even emailed to a friend who can download and replicate the circuit on his or her computer.

- Race in a Championship with heats of races, which allow you to score points and record them in a Championship table. The system helps you configure the Championship in any way you like and is ideal for large numbers of players, given that only 6 cars/players can compete on a multilane circuit at any one time.

The Big Race

Qualifying in RMS is a tense affair with one 30-minute session to determine grid positions for up to 24 players. Qualifying laps begin from a standing start followed by only one flying lap, requiring commitment and control. Timing is accurate to 1/hundreth of a second and at the end of the session the best laps are displayed and the race Heats begin.

For the races, the RMS start board displays a row of red lights, which turn green when the Computer’s Race Controller screams "GO!”. Jumping the start incurs a 1-lap penalty with no appeal. The lap counter decreases each time a driver completes a lap, with lap time and speed displayed in Race Statistics, until the race is over. The system notes which driver sets fastest lap, with best laps for the other players and split times to the race leader.

Fuel Display and Pit Stops

Drivers choose the pit-strategy in advance and register it with the Race Officials. Fuel levels decrease as racing progresses, with pit-stops occurring as agreed with the race crew. When fuel levels reach zero, the cars must pit or face a 1-lap penalty – again, no appeals! During the Stop, the lap counting is suspended and the car takes fuel before powering back onto the circuit. Fuelling is performance related so the faster you go, the shorter your stop.

The Race Controller also announces to each player when only 2 laps remain and the race ends after the set number of laps has expired for each player.
